| > Greetings to visitors along with starting this new web site. Dear visitors, Hello, I am the owner of "Hanabako", Masami Ooguchi, a gallery that associates with antique and artcrafts of flower baskets. It has been 3 years since we opened Hanabako in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, as a specialty gallery of flower baskets, which is quite rare in Japan. Bamboo flower baskets are greatly evaluated and collected in Europe and America, but the chance to see an exhibition of these high artistry works is not so often in Japan. Thus, "Hanabako" always exhibits these works of artists and craftsmans. We also have a collection of Chinese style baskets and baskets of "Mitate", which are commonly prefered in Japanese tea. We started this web site from the desire for more and more people would be able to see for their eyes and understand what is so wonderfull about these flower baskets. Although 90 percent of our collection were antiques until last year, we have made relationships with more contemporary artists from our project exhibition of bamboo illuminations. We are hoping to be the place where artists can exhibit, communicate, and where bamboo lovers would be able to enjoy. Thus, we hope to be the one to send out informations of our Japanese baskets. Please feel free to send us any information about artists and exhibitions. Also, any friendly informations such as, "I've found a very unique basket", "I've met a great artist", or even "I would like to sell a basket", is appreciated. Let us know. Please enjoy our new web site, and if you find your favorite match, we are greatfull. September 1st., 2005 - H A N A B A K O - Owner: Masami Ooguchi |
